The crash took place late at night on Sunday, Sept. 22, on Route 55 in the Town of Pawling, said Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Capt. John Watterson.
As a result of the crash, one person died at the scene and a second person was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, Watterson said.
Route 55 was closed for investigation for more than five hours after the crash and has since re-opened, he added.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have witnessed all or part of the crash, to contact Deputy Wilber or Deputy LeMere at 845-486-3800.
